Winter is a great time to travel around the Top End, so we joined a group of fellow RV pilots on a trip from the Airpark to Sweers Island, on the Gulf of Carpentaria. We departed on July 27, stopping at Roma for fuel, overnight at Longreach with visits to the Stockman's Hall of Fame and the QANTAS Museum, then Larks Quarry to see the Dinosaur Stampede site and onto Winton for a night at the famous North Gregory Hotel. Departed Tuesday for Adel's Grove, with a fuel stop at Cloncurry, and spent two lovely nights in a riverside tent, with a canoe trip along the local gorge, and a tour of the Riversleigh fossil sites. Thursday it was onto Sweers Island, with a day out fishing and the amazing site of the Morning Glory roll cloud. Chris and I left early next morning and with a tailwind, got back home just after 4pm the same day.
